Alternatives to Google

There are other lists like this on this website but just about all of them give terrible recommendations like Firefox (paid by Google), Brave (based on Chromium), and ProtonMail. This list covers true alternatives to Google that are completely dependant from Google.

UnGoogled Chromium and Bromite are not allowed because they are still based on Chromium. Other than the added privacy, using them would be no different from using Google Chrome.

  27. Google Calendar

Once again, no alternatives here. Just go to the store and buy a paper calendar and use that instead.

  28. Google Translate

Ask someone who actually knows the language or learn the language yourself. Digital translators will never be as good as human translators.

So many of these aren't "alternatives" at all. You want the convenience of a digital calendar that you can view wherever, whenever, and can make changes to? Too bad. Use a paper one. No, I don't care if there are actual digital calendars that are alternatives to Google Calendar that are privacy-focused. Use a paper one! What? You won't? God dammit, Google tracks you! I'm sure that makes you feel bad!

Same thing with translators. Can't learn a language, because it's too hard? Can't get a translator because they either cost money or you're talking to people digitally? Too bad!

Also, also, the fact that Google funds Firefox isn't good enough to justify not using it. Every anti-privacy and anti-consumer global conglomerate funds Linux!
