I loved Debian for a really long time; since early Debian Sarge it was my general purpose OS of choice. But sadly: things changed. Namely systemd snucked its way in. While it is absolutely legitimate to like systemd (maybe it is your sense of fun, how maintainers handle feature-creep and security bugs), it is also absolutely legitimate to not like it (maybe, because you gotta do work or you would like to stay your init small, trivial and just out of your way), too: it is simply about the freedom of choice here. I love Devuan - real freedom, instead of Debians awkward dependency-hell that nearly always culminates in requiring systemd magically somehow.
Devuan is quite slow in updating even the most important packages. Not good for my usage. Might be good for you...
