they are both very lightweight. Sumata uses mupdf as a redering engine. Zathura can use poppler OR mupdf also, so they are very similar, in the end.
Sumatra offers some aditional features (ioke historial). Maybe mupdf is closer to Zathura, now that I think about it, because zathura is very stripped down.
