What is TidyBatch?

TidyBatch renames many files at once from the command line, with safety first.

  • Dry run by default: you see every change before anything happens.
  • One-command undo: every applied run is saved to a journal, and "tidybatch undo" puts every file back.
  • Never overwrites: two-phase renames make chains and swaps safe, and name clashes get _1, _2.
  • Case-insensitive collision checks, because Windows and macOS treat Photo.JPG and photo.jpg as the same file.
  • Templates with numbering, file dates and photo EXIF dates; regex find and replace; slug and lowercase clean-up.
  • One Python file, standard library only, no dependencies.

The core is free and open source (MIT) and runs anywhere with Python 3.9+. TidyBatch Pro is a one-time purchase that adds sorting files into folders, finding exact duplicates, and ready-to-run apps for Windows and Linux.
