Plumby

Plumby shows you where your Mac's space, memory and battery are going, and clears out what is only taking up room. It is a full Mac app with a menu bar companion, made for anyone whose Mac is full and who wants to know why before deleting anything.

Fourteen pages, each answering one question. What is filling the disk, and what clearing it would cost. What is running, and what it is using. What opens at login. What the apps you deleted left behind. How the drive, battery and memory are doing. Which macOS settings Plumby changed, and what was there before.

It explains what it finds in plain sentences. On memory: "macOS fills memory it is not short of on purpose, so a high figure here is normal and not something to fix." On an ageing battery: "A battery that holds less than it used to is normal wear, not a fault. Nothing is broken." On space macOS releases by itself: "Your Mac hands this back by itself the moment something needs the room. There's nothing for you to do." Often the answer is to do nothing, and Plumby says so.

Nothing on your disk goes until you say so. Every group says what removing it costs you, before you remove it. When Plumby can't open a folder, it says so instead of counting it as empty. It is plain about its own limits too: ask it to remove itself and it answers, "This is Plumby. It cannot move itself to the Trash."

Looking is free. So are the first 5 GB it clears and the first 3 apps it removes in full, with no account and nothing that expires. After that, $29 a year or $79 once. Either way, the version you buy is yours to keep, on up to two Macs.

Everything Plumby reads stays on your Mac. It runs on macOS 15 Sequoia and later, on Intel and Apple silicon, and downloads directly from plumby.app, signed and notarized.
