Fedora has a lot of similarities to openSUSE that make it a great alternative. They both use RPM packages, they both have a large variety of up-to-date packages, they both benefit from vibrant communities and corporate support, and they both are extremely rewarding to use.

Fedora and OpenSuse are both excellent distros. What makes Fedora most obviously similar to OpenSuse is that they both use .rpm software packages. Fedora's default desktop is Gnome 3, in contrast to OpenSuse's KDE Plasma. But, of course, you can install whatever desktop you like in either case.

Manjaro doesn't use .rpm for its software packages, but it's similar to OpenSuse in these ways: 1) like OpenSuse Tumbleweed, it's a rolling distro, 2) KDE Plasma is the default desktop environment, 3) both have superb online community support.

Windows is by no means a Linux distro, and it shows. It suffers from its somewhat bloated nature and is ultimately a product meant to turn a profit. OpenSUSE users enjoy a much more streamlined and lightweight operating system that puts the user first. OpenSUSE users also benefit from other key Linux features such as an impressive package repository and frequent unobtrusive updates.
