Apache OpenOffice is described as 'Leading open-source office suite that offers free applications for word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, graphics, databases and more. All data is stored in an open standard format, though Open Office can also read and write files from other common' and is a leading Word Processor in the office & productivity category. There are more than 50 alternatives to Apache OpenOffice for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Web-based, Android, Linux and Mac apps. The best Apache OpenOffice alternative is LibreOffice, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Apache OpenOffice are ONLYOFFICE, Google Docs, Microsoft 365 Copilot and CryptPad.
WordPerfect (now owned by Corel) has, in my experience, always been the very best commercial office suite available. I've been using it in one form or another since 1993 when it was just WordPerfect 5.2 and ran on DOS 6.0, also fairly new at the time. It outperforms and outshines Microsoft Office and even Libre Office/OpenOffice.
