Open source, so possibility of new features + bug fixes added with pull requests. Storage on your own terms, specify where these items are stored.

Is open-source and can be hosted by yourself. No data sharing needed!

Requires you to set up your own server running the Nextcloud server software. This is much more complicated than setting up OneDrive (and similar), which usually just require you to run an installer and register an account. This makes Nextcloud less suitable for non-techy general users.

Your data is located on your own Nextcloud server rather than on a server controlled by Microsoft. Also, the Collabora module allows you to edit Word and Excel documents for free.

With Nextcloud you control your own data, you are limited by your own hardware and don't have to trust Microsoft with your data.

    3. IPFS is a global, versioned, peer-to-peer filesystem. It combines good ideas from Git, BitTorrent, Kademlia, SFS, and the web. It is like a single bittorrent swarm, exchanging git objects. IPFS provides an interface as simple as the HTTP web, but with permanence built in.
