It's beautiful, it's easy to use, and you can send your changes to OpenStreetMap within the app.
It's way better than OSMand on what it does, even if it has less functionalities.
This application is not FREE. It is full of trackers. As of todays there is at least 20 trackers in it as you can see on this Exodus Privacy report.
MapsWithMe / MAPS.ME had its source code available on GitHub and GitLab. While neither of them are archived, they are currently no longer being updated.
MAPS.ME was eventually confirmed to have gone closed-source and stopped relying on its open-source code: https://github.com/mapsme/omim/issues/14157
Unfortunate still, the app contains many trackers (though not as much as five years ago), see here... https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/search/com.mapswithme.maps.pro/
And its current privacy policy isn't helping matters either: https://maps.me/policy/
I'm currently suspected to believe that the app has been acquired by some shady company or the original developers decided to take a turn for the worst, but I just can't say for sure. All I know is that this definitely can't be trusted for a reliable, private web mapping platform.
I am no longer as enthusiastic as I was when I strated using MAPS.ME in 2017. Aside from the fact that it is no longer open source, it keeps bugging me to use its virtual wallet / payment service. Also, when searching for a destination, results are presented in illogical order. It would be far more useful if the search results were ordered by proximity to current location.
A GPS software is useless without a search function for Postal codes. (There are many cities which have the same names)
The devs are never used a GPS software before. A proof of stupidity. I'm very disappointed in this software.
I only use this (with caution) if all else fails. Do not fully rely on it, it makes huge mistakes on the trip. PLAN AHEAD and watch the road signs!
This a really cool app, maybe to most modern OSM client! You must try it!
