Launchy is a free Windows and Linux utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager. Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes.

I haven't seen an alternative even close in feature set and precision. A genuine time saver. Still works on Windows 10. And no, even though you can type your way to a program in Windows, it doesn't...See why people like Launchy 😍 See why people do not like Launchy 😡 Post your review

I have a fairly decent running XP machine (since 2006, wow) and I´ve been using Launchy for almost 4 years. Recently some memory issues started to happen (BTW I had the 2.5 version) and after running Process Explorer I saw that Launchy was slowing my system a lot. Sometimes when building the catalog the computer/program freezed.
Was a good program though and I´m thankful to the developers but right now I´ll be switching to FARR...
Can someone tell me how can I exlude dir? Because I have backup on the drive and I dont wan't to move it or select more directories to bypass that selection.
I haven't seen an alternative even close in feature set and precision. A genuine time saver. Still works on Windows 10. And no, even though you can type your way to a program in Windows, it doesn't compare to Launchy where you use very fuzzy shorthand and still get what you want. The only program so far, that Launchy consistently fails to start is Microsoft Hyper-V Manager.
I used it all the time on Windows XP. I didn't think it would work on Windows 10, but it does. It's way, way more gentle on resources and incredibly accurate.
Used Launchy for 2-3 years without issue. The past year has not been good.
Would no longer recommend this application. I haven't found an exact alternative... but Listary is nice if you need to combine the features of Launchy with Everything search.

Amazing I use it everywhere!
has been using it since Window Vista. Even after the release of Window 7, launchy with a bit of customization greatly out perform the search bar within the start menu.
...if this app is still being developed? Seems a year have gone by since the last opdate.. (2.6)
Great app though.
I'm not clear on how this is better than the search bar built into the Start Menu of Windows 7.
I think this is more for XP, which didn't have that feature originally, although microsoft did add desktop search in updates.
very very nice program! Since i use this app i've got rid of all my quick launchicons! :]
If you try this app, try typing in "google" [TAB] "word you want to search", i've added wolfram alpha, dict.leo.org...
All in all it makes my workflow so much faster!!
Very handy, I hardly use my start menu anymore and even use it for most little calculations over MS Calc.
It got a bit slower under Windows 7 however, but that might be just me.
Launchy is good application
There is no need for the app anymore. Webpage was updated last in 2008.
