Element Features
Comments about Element as a Alternative to Discord
kaspianMuch better, no censorship, decentralized and End to end encryped!
2coralinecastellFOSS, end-to-end encryption, beautiful interface, easy to set up, fast, responsive. Not bloated like Discord, not a privacy hazard like Discord. You can host your own server. Frequently updated. Supports gifs, videos, emoticons, etc. Clean sound.
1Voice features are just lacking too far behind or practically non existent compared to discord. No channels, no audio wizards setup or even basic settings like volume control or open mic threshold settings, no push to talk. It's very very barebones. If it were to have Mumbe's voice features instead of Jitsi's it would be a discord killer.
33Edgar F.Does not show an easier way of sharing spaces.
0The only modern federated messanger out there

Mumble was the first and is the most successful and wide spread free and open source software for VoIP. It was the first VoIP software to provide low-latency audio suitable for gaming, and at the same time was a pioneer in high audio quality.
Mumble Features
Comments about Mumble as a Alternative to Discord
Opensource and easy-to-create servers. However, you have to host the servers as mumble doesn't do it themselves.
9The audio quality is great and has less latency than Discord. The server is self-hosted so there is more flexibility as well. But that's the only expect that is better than Discord. Discord has much more functionality like video calling, rich text server chat, etc.
3JulienMumble are for real time communication not differed and persistent chat like Discord.
0No text chat channels. Mumble is voice oriented
-10Mumble is a voice chat item. It's closer to teamspeak than discord or slack.

Telegram is a messaging app created by former VK creators with a focus on speed and security. It’s superfast, simple and free. It is like SMS, but more powerful.
Telegram Features
Comments about Telegram as a Alternative to Discord
Telegram DOES HAVE voice chat. It has no premium features, it's all free. Plus stickers.
6Telegram as a communications system does most of what Discord offers, Voice chat is more like a Skype alternative.
2RizowskiTelegram is more akin to whatsapp than discord. Discord would be closer to mumble, teamspeak or ventrilo.
6Eric BadunovLove the safety it provides. Fast mobile app too. Can recommend!
0RemovedUserNow it have premium but with pretty stupid features. Still good for communications.

With the rise of widespread government monitoring programs, Tox is an easy to use application that allows you to connect with friends and loved ones without anyone else listening in.
Tox Features
Comments about Tox as a Alternative to Discord
The privacy capability gives Tox an edge over most other alternatives to Discord.
12RemovedUserTox is an amazing idea, and when it works, it works well. But it's so buggy that it's unusable for me. When they get the kinks worked out this will be an excellent chat/voice/video client.
7rad1anIt doesn't have servers, is less convenient
-1Tox is general has great ideas, I love the decentralized part, but also miss features of a centralized service like sending messages to offline users. Would be cool if someone manage to make a web client for Tox.
8RemovedUserit is not gaming-oriented

Guilded Features
Comments about Guilded as a Alternative to Discord
Bloo AlienIt's the overall most Discord-like application/service I've seen yet. If you're looking for a valid competitor to Discord, this one looks like it holds that potential.
2DaBaldEagulThe staff is super nice, development is super fast, and the community is awesome. It has a lot of features, and you can even transfer your Discord server to Guilded with only a few clicks.
3KippenhofIt Isn't Polished as much.
Discord Is really good in keeping the UI Clean, Modern and Polished. Guilded doesn't do that very well.
1aragusukuguilded transcodes everything to low quality webp. definitely do not use to share media.
0FanteIt's the best alternative to Discord that I've found so far.

Jami Features
Comments about Jami as a Alternative to Discord
RemovedUserDecentralized, end-to-end encrypted, and ironically works better than other services that I have used. I'm not sure if it has group calls, though.

Revolt is a brand new chat platform designed around you.
Revolt Features
Comments about Revolt as a Alternative to Discord
GruakRevolt has much better privacy policy, is open source, and therefore much more trustworthy.
4AnipeGood app! Open source and a nice community, lacks some features but its alright!
4aragusukure-encodes all jpgs to a lower quality. useless to share jpg media as they will get encoded to dust in a few reposts. while it doesnt happen with other files, it's sucky. revolt is also buggy and slow as hell, featuring unhelpful staff - I asked for voice channel bitrate, no one answered me, they all tried to be funny. asked the admin directly and was ignored (he was online and chatting on main channel).
1It's got the same UI, but without any Nitro subscription junk
1Revolt is pretty much just Discord but better and open-source. May not have as many features but the privacy makes up for it 100%.
