What is Armada?
Armada is an open-source chat application providing end-to-end encryption. It uses the Nostr protocol and includes servers, channels, threads, and voice rooms. The app enables serverless operations, with user keys serving as identities. It features Concord, a serverless, fully encrypted community where only members can read content. It includes text channels, live voice rooms, and invites. Users can self-host an Armada server for full control and data ownership.
Armada offers encrypted communities, voice rooms with encrypted group and direct calls, self-hostable servers and channels, and portable identity. It supports voice and video calls, custom emojis, GIFs and more. Self-hosting is available for decentralization and independence.
Users can self-host the client, serve the web app from their domain, manage encrypted messages on their relay, and route calls through their LiveKit box. Armada is compatible with other Nostr apps and supports Concord, NIP-29, and Buzz communities. A single key allows users to log in across the ecosystem, and shared protocols enable access to communities and direct messages across different platforms.
