What is Crisp - Monitor Control?
Crisp is a free, open-source (MIT) menu bar app for managing external displays on macOS. Its main feature is HiDPI (Retina-style) scaling for monitors macOS normally leaves blurry or undersized, such as 1080p and 1440p panels, with an optional smooth-scaling mode for fine-grained control.
It also provides DDC hardware brightness (with a software-dimming fallback and keyboard brightness keys that drive external monitors), saved display presets, a drag-to-arrange multi-monitor canvas, virtual displays, ICC profile switching and image adjustments, auto-brightness that follows the built-in screen, keep-awake, and one-click Dark Mode / Night Shift / True Tone toggles.
Every feature is free, including several that BetterDisplay and Lunar keep behind paid tiers. Requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Localized in English and Simplified Chinese.
