(I posted in cryptomator's page too)

For me, I only compare cyptomator to boxcryptor. ctmt is good: foss, free.

but boxcryptor is more useable.

boxcryptor is good: treat file as a file, not bundled inside a vault.

This make boxcryptor MUCH more preferred.

however, boxcryptor has bad pt: close source, paid version for encrypted filename, limited device, no linux ver.

It appears that Boxcryptor does have a portable Linux version now on their downloads page.

Fast, Secure, Scalable, multi-platform, multiple cloud storage supported. Works flawlessly on Windows and Android, storing >500GB (800,000+ files) encrypted. Works great with OneDrive, Google Drive & DropBox cloud storage.

I've used a lot of the cloud backup & encryption solutions - Tresorit and SpiderOak are two of the best - but they come at a premium cost - Boxcryptor comes in at a much better price-point - and supports all the well known cloud providers that you already use.

As a bonus - works really well with OneDrive for Business 5TB (5,000GB) storage plan ;)

Boxcryptor worked well for a while, but then it started crashing. Always this happened when transferring large numbers of files (3000+) into my Dropbox folder inside Boxcryptor. This makes it too unreliable as a backup system

What is Boxcryptor?

Boxcryptor is an easy-to-use encryption software optimized for the cloud. It allows the secure use of cloud storage services without sacrificing comfort. Boxcryptor supports all major cloud storage providers (such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud) and supports all the clouds that use the WebDAV standard (such as Strato HiDrive, Box and ownCloud). With Boxcryptor your files go protected to your cloud provider and you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your information cannot fall into the wrong hands.

Boxcryptor creates a virtual drive on your computer that allows you to encrypt your files locally before uploading them to your cloud or clouds of choice. It encrypts individual files - and does not create containers. Any file dropped into an encrypted folder within the Boxcryptor drive will get automatically encrypted before it is synced to the cloud. To protect your files, Boxcryptor uses the AES-256 and RSA encryption algorithms.
