Adobe unveils Firefly AI Assistant for prompt-driven editing across Creative Cloud
Adobe has announced the upcoming Firefly AI Assistant, a new conversational AI tool that lets users edit its projects across Firefly, Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Express, Illustrator, and other Creative Cloud apps using text prompts. Users will be able to request edits like “retouch this image” or “resize this for social media,” with the assistant generating editable options instead of a single finished result.
The assistant can also surface related tools and controls for fine tuning, while more detailed adjustments can still be completed in the standard Creative Cloud apps. Adobe says the goal is to reduce technical barriers and automate repetitive tasks while keeping creators in control of the final output. The company is also expanding its agentic AI work through Anthropic, bringing these features to third party AI apps like Claude so users can access Adobe tools outside Firefly and Creative Cloud. The assistant will be released as a public beta later this month.
Adobe is also rolling out Firefly updates, including Creative Skills for reusable presets, AI Markup for defining edit regions, Precision Flow for comparing generated images, new color and dialogue tools in Firefly Video Editor, and direct Adobe Stock integration for B-roll footage.
