DEVONthink 4.2 updates the design, adds AI search choices, and upgrades the AI assistant
DEVONthink 4.2, codenamed Cassini, refreshes the app’s look with a new icon and adds support for Apple’s Liquid Glass design on macOS Tahoe. On Tahoe, PDFs now follow the system dark mode setting for easier reading.
On macOS Sequoia and later, sidebars and inspectors animate in and out, and the Navigate sidebar is now spring loaded. You can drag an item to the window edge to reveal the sidebar automatically for faster navigation.
The built in chat assistant can now change settings directly from the chat window and supports up to 50 saved conversations. Web and Wikipedia searches can use DEVONthink, Perplexity, or Exa, and the AI model list now includes Claude 4.5, GPT 5.2, Gemini 3, and Google Nano Banana Pro. Image generation adds aspect ratio selection, there is a detachable Graph popover for visualizing document links, named versions for tighter revision control, and improvements to annotation documents and Markdown typography, while DEVONthink 3.9.17 brings bug fixes and quality of life updates for legacy users.
