Microsoft 365 Copilot gets a new redesigned UI, image generation, reasoning agents & more

Microsoft has announced the Spring Wave 2 update for its Microsoft 365 Copilot app, adding several AI-powered features for business users. Previously focused primarily on serving as a hub for Office apps and files, the app now opens directly to a chat interface—similar to the consumer version of Copilot—featuring memory and a new search tool that scans both Office documents and third-party platforms like ServiceNow, Google Drive, and Slack. It also introduces a "Create" feature for generating AI-driven content and images with OpenAI’s GPT-4o model for social media assets and branded visuals.

The update also introduces new Researcher and Analyst agents, powered by OpenAI's deep reasoning models and accessible through the Frontier program. These agents can be found in the new Agent Store, which includes integrations with tools like JIRA, monday.com, and Miro, as well as custom agents.

The new Copilot Notebooks tool integrates various content types like Copilot chats, files, meeting notes, and more to offer real-time insights and outputs, while the Pages feature facilitates collaborative document editing across the Microsoft ecosystem. Additionally, the Copilot Control System has been updated to provide IT admins with enhanced management and governance of Copilot agents.
