Microsoft rebrands Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) to 'Microsoft 365 Copilot'

Microsoft has once again added to its long history of weird and confusing naming conventions by rebranding the Microsoft 365 app to Microsoft 365 Copilot on Windows 11. This change follows a series of past names, including Office, Office 365, and Microsoft 365 Office, now transitioning to an AI-centric focus with Microsoft 365 Copilot. The company states this rebrand aligns with its AI-first strategy, positioning Copilot as the central feature across its enterprise products.

To address previous naming confusion, Microsoft has unified its branding with the "Copilot" tag and updated its URL structure. Both office.com and Microsoft365.com now redirect to m365.cloud.microsoft, with a new dedicated URL, M365Copilot.com, introduced.

The rebranding includes several UI updates: the Microsoft Copilot page now launches automatically with the Copilot keyboard key, a cleaner design by removing the top header, and relocating account options to the left-side menu's bottom. The organization name header has been removed, and AI tools like Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Copilot Pages have shifted to the left sidebar, featuring a new Back button, and a search bar has been added to the homepage for better content discovery. These updates are available for both web and desktop versions of Microsoft 365 Copilot and are live for most Windows 11 users.

Not an impressive name and just Microsoft warning us they will stubbornly force AI towards us, despite it being still in its infancy.

Why do I find it amusing that Microsoft just can't stick to one name for its office suite? It really relishes the Copilot experience... But shouldn't that be worked on before it proceeds with the rebranding??

Yeah, i am a bit skeptical. Already MS365 seamed bad, because it seems more like a suite of all the windows products, but this rebranding makes it a lot worse, because this MS365 Copilot name makes it seem like MS365 Copilot is an Extension for MS365... Honestly, I think it isn't MS these times, i think it is M$, because of all the AI stuff, Win11, this 4th rebrand etc...

I'm certain that Windows 12 will be officially called "Windows Copilot", the first (and last) AI-centric always online OS. This will be the best way to make us forget how bad is Windows 11, by offering even worse.

That actually doesn’t sound too far-fetched tbh.
