Nextcloud Hub 10 Launches with a new open-source AI agent, improved file management & more
Nextcloud has launched Nextcloud Hub 10, featuring an open-source AI agent designed to enhance user productivity by performing tasks like creating calendar entries, reading messages, writing emails, and accessing files, chats, and contacts. This AI agent, part of the Nextcloud Assistant, can also integrate with external services such as weather reports. Organizations have the option to host the AI agent themselves or use third-party services, allowing for greater control over privacy and data security.
The AI assistant is integrated with Nextcloud Mail, providing capabilities such as email summaries, translations, and text error checking. It also aids in modifying the tone of communications. In the Talk video conferencing module, the AI tool offers meeting summaries to help users catch up on missed information. Nextcloud Talk now supports end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for video calls, enhancing security. Encrypted files can be accessed in the browser using a mnemonic key.
Hub 10 improves file uploads by transferring data in blocks, making uploads significantly faster and allowing interrupted uploads to resume seamlessly. Users can convert files between different formats directly through the context menu, such as converting a Word document to a PDF. The new AppAPI interface simplifies the integration of external applications, with support for OpenProject, Documenso, XWiki, and Zulip. Additionally, the user interface has been redesigned, featuring compact chat layouts and colored file tags for improved organization.
