Google announced 'Assistant with Bard', the next step for an AI-Powered Google Assistant

Apart from the launch of Android 14, Google recently presented a preview of its upcoming voice enhancements, "Assistant with Bard," for Android and iOS. The new feature merges the generative and reasoning abilities of Google Gemini with the individualized assistance from Google Assistant, so I think is same to assume this is kinda Google Assistant 2.0. With the integration of Bard Extensions, the assistant can access Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs to answer questions and provide information, including summarizing important emails and ask for specific details like location, people involved, time, and more – you name it.

The user interface of Assistant with Bard is designed as a "conversational overlay" that accepts text, voice, or image input and floats above the screen. This is a significant departure from the conventional sheet-style Assistant, with a focus on maintaining background context. Google refers to this interaction style as a "completely new way to interact with your phone," incorporating Material You design elements. We can consider this as an update on par with what we've seen in ChatGPT with voice commands, but for Bard.

The exact date is still unknown, but public availability on Android and iOS is anticipated in the coming months. There is also no information about when we can expect to see the debut of this new assistant on devices like Google Nest, but it shouldn't take long, considering that Amazon has already started working to integrate a AI technology into its Echo devices with Alexa.
