- Found this interesting: Google may now use your Gmail and Photos data to serve targeted ads through AI Search
Here is how to stop it: On your Google Account connected app click on your profile picture and follow this order: Manage your Google Account, Data & privacy, Personalization settings, Manage Personalized Recommendations in Search services, Connected Content Apps and then disconnect everything you don't want or instead of going to Connected Content Apps, just remain in Search Services Personalization and disconnect everything by toggling off the "Personalized Recommendations".
Pro tip: Google...
"Both the manager and member need to be in the same place to complete the [QR code] scan." Yes, or video call each other.
Enshitification is ruining tech. Streaming services replaced p2p file sharing... I think it's time for streaming services to be replace by something new!

It's nice there's a Obsidian clone that's open source now, but for those that want to avoid vibe coded apps, this is one of them FYI.
From their Github:
AI disclosure opensidian was built predominantly with AI models. Nearly all of the code, the design docs, and this README were written by Claude (Anthropic's models, via Claude Code) working from prompts, reviews, and corrections by a single human maintainer. The human decided what to build and what the trust model must guarantee, read and...

Trust Obsidian which stores everything locally in .md or trust the OS fully vibecoded App

It’s very easy to get to grips with. On Windows, I was able to set it to open at start-up and create a shortcut to display the minimised window whenever I wanted with no trouble at all. It’s highly customisable and allows you to store far more items in the clipboard than you can with the standard Windows clipboard tool. You can even create lists of items to keep for those you need regularly but which can be removed from the clipboard when the limit on the number of items that can be stored is...

My favourite email client on Android. I like its visual simplicity. I like the customisation options, particularly the filtering rules, which Thunderbird Mobile sorely lacks. NB: certain features, such as the rules, require a one-off payment to access the full version of the app; although I’ve only ever used the basic version for years, I missed the filters too much and I can’t always have my PC with me for that.
Reviewed WaveUp★★★★WaveUp has been a great help in keeping my Fairphone 3 up and running. With the buttons becoming unresponsive – particularly the power button, which refuses to work on its own – WaveUp has given them a bit of a breather by letting them ‘rest’ when I just needed to read the display or wake the screen using my passcode or biometrics.

I'm really exited to see JXL now being adapted by Chrome. JPEG is an outdated Format (1992) and produces way too large files compared to JXL. But significant adoption in the Web will take at least 10 years -probably along with AVIF (which currently offers a more efficient compression) But the days of JPEG and WebP are numbered - Thank God.

Good news (even for non-Chrome users) because JXL gives much better results for photographies than Webp (that is still average but still much better than JPEG) and could even be better than AVIF (that is already very alright, and even supports animations and transparency). And given how much Google contributed to develop JXL, become coming around for whatever reason to not really support it (citing slow adoption), it makes sense to enable it, even if Firefox enabled it only recently. So it...

Wonder how quickly/slowly Comaps will catch up, might need to switch to OM just for the alt routes options
