StreetComplete 64 brings first stable iOS release, faster quest creation, and 8 new quests

After almost two years of waiting, StreetComplete has arrived on iOS in what the project describes as the longest changelog it has ever published for a single version. The release marks the first stable build of the OpenStreetMap survey editor for Apple's platform, a milestone the developer framed as the culmination of several interlocking pieces of work: completing the migration to a multiplatform UI framework, porting the map and all map interactions, and placing the app on a multiplatform base. That migration carried visible consequences beyond the new platform, as a large number of quest forms were rebuilt during the process. The developer described the moment with evident relief, saying simply that it was finally done and urging users to spread the word.

Version 64 also brings a broad set of refinements to the existing app. Quest creation processing after download is now roughly 50% faster, according to the changelog, and the way-splitting interface has been redesigned around a crosshair model similar to the one used for moving nodes and overlays, replacing the older tap-to-split approach. Attaching tracks and images to notes, and undoing those attachments, has been given a clearer interface, while monochrome point-of-interest icons with halos no longer visually clump together when packed closely on the map. Free-text fields now display an error state when input exceeds 255 characters. On the localization front, Serbian in Latin script has returned, and the project now refers to Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional) rather than Chinese and Chinese (Taiwan). Navigation and platform integration received attention as well: reduced animation “yank” between screens, support for the predictive back gesture, a map button to jump back to the currently focused element, back buttons on dismissible onboarding screens, swipe navigation between onboarding steps, a back button on the bottom sheet title when the sheet nearly fills the screen, and a larger time picker in dialogs.

The update adds eight new quests to the roster, covering how much parking costs, which doctors are present at a location, what type of vending machine stands somewhere, who may enter a given area, the surface of motorcycle parkings, how many sockets a charging station offers, whether cars can be charged there, and whether a bicycle or similar vehicle can be locked while charging. Several of these consolidate earlier prompts: the “who may enter here?” question absorbs the previous playground and tower access quests, while the car-charging questions replace the pair that separately asked whether and how many cars or bicycles could charge at a station. Alongside the additions, the release removes one quest the project characterized as problematic and includes further improvements to quests and overlays, plus assorted fixes for enhanced usability and stability.
