Yakuake
Yakuake is a drop-down terminal emulator based on KDE Konsole technology.
What is Yakuake?
Yakuake is a drop-down (Quake-style) terminal emulator based on KDE Konsole technology. Its design was inspired from consoles in computer games such as Quake which slide down from the top of the screen when a key is pressed, and slide back up when the key is pressed again. Yakuake, in the same way as Kate, KDevelop and Konqueror, relies on Konsole to offer the terminal functionality, embedding it in the application as a KPart component.

i'm trying GNOME instead of KDE on openSUSE linux (KDE had crashes maybe from video driver issues on hp laptop) & i'm glad to find a yakuake replacement b/c it makes programming & many other tasks so much more awesomemrdaylightthinks Guake terminal is an alternative to Yakuake
Useful terminal with the following features:
very cool concept yeah as in drop down terminal. so much i cloned this functionality for an emacs frame through i3wm, so i can not only have a drop-down shell, but also anything that is able to run on Emacs like a text editor :p

Terminal on-demand with a hotkey. Can be customised to be transparent and fullscreen. Love it and been using for years.
Customizable and convenient alternative to Konsole on KDE environments.
Yakuake is very handy and nice looking. Many things to fine tune.
