Don't be deterred by its somewhat outdated looks – it works like a charm on newer systems. I've been using it on my Windows Vista, and I understand that it also works on Windows 7, even thoug it's not stated on author's site.

I've been using this in conjunction with 3RVX, to great success.

Warning: Setting volume control to taskbar is very addicting, and makes you slightly annoyed by every other system that doesn't have this. IMO all OS manufacturers should implement this asap.
