Well and truly past it's prime. It used to be a powerful and reasonably priced option for people who need a WYSISWYG site builder.
Now it's just overpriced enshitified garbage. The "award winning" Customer Service is completely gone.
The price is absurd. The AI integration and upselling is disgusting.

Switched from Shopify and love it! Much easier to use and great for our simple website (shopify was overkill). Also A+ clean & beautiful designs which was important for us as a natural products co.

Squarespace is the best and most powerful wysiwyg website builder I've ever tried - they do many things right, but I'd like to be able to control the look on a more detailed level without going into coding. It has build in blogging, many useful predefined elements like webforms, payment-handeling, video-embeding and beautiful controls for adding content. Plus a lot of useful integrations to for example
Google Analytics,
Mailchimp and
Shopify.
On top of that Squarespace has a beta running with full control of CSS, JS, Git and SFTP is interesting, but requires that you really dig though the code.
For more detailed control of the design
Webflow is simply awesome and lets you interact with almost every bit of the responsive-design in wysiwyg-mode. It also let's has lightweight version control and extremely easy deployment. On top of that you are able to export the code for hosting externally.
