Recently I have tested around 20 different Linux distros with a focus on slow machines, and Solus was the most efficient, while being fully functional from the start, no specific knowledge needed. Unfortunately, it didn't want to install on a machine with less than 2 GB of RAM, but it was pretty usable from USB for simple tasks. It is also a good looking and easy to use OS, and users won't find it hard to switch from Windows. EDIT: with newer updates, NVidia GPU support deteriorated severely...
Comments and Reviews
Solus is the best operating system. Its fast, efficient and not based on anything. Essentially built from the ground up. Love its ease of use and relatively small footprint. This is the operating system for the modern world. Steam integration, web developer friendly, modern tech office friendly and the developer have a great sense of humour. Now lets get to "discombobulating the update matrix" and "thinking really hard". I am sure thee are a few more easter eggs in the mix somewhere.

EDIT: with newer updates, NVidia GPU support deteriorated severely without a fix, so I had to switch to a more stable Linux distro
Solus is okay with some updates.
Lghtweight, no bloatwares and works amazing!
Lightweight. Fast on older hardware. Love the Budge desktop environment. Modern styling with a dark theme.
Neat, clean and familiar desktop. Budgie DE is one of the best DE's around. You show give it a try. Installation was easy and is working perfectly fine without any issues. This distro has a great future ahead.
Solus is a Linux based OS that is rolling release and stable. Has its own graphic interface (Budgie) developed in house. Its extremely user friendly. Has Its own packager (EOPKG) thats is nice to use. Its optimized for Steam client and games in general.
I'm testing for about 3 weeks and will probably switch over my Kubuntu. I highly recommend anyone to give it a try.
