The latest stable version is not 21.10.0 but 25.06.0, released in August 2025, and there are currently several pre-release versions on the project's GitHub page, which indicates that the project is still actively maintained. https://github.com/smplayer-dev/smplayer The only thing that seems to have gone a long time without an update is their website.

While the tonvid default search engine is odd, users can just as easily enable the toolbar and enter the Youtube site address directly and use that. From there, users can right-click on videos or playlists and cue them up in SMPlayer. It's a very nice way to browse, though having to go to the site itself to access whole playlists is a bit sloppy.
Don't log in from this "browser" to anywhere you will regret it!
