    Shotwell is described as 'open source photo organizer designed for the GNOME desktop environment. Features Import photos from folders or from any digital camera supported by gPhoto' and is a well-known app in the Photos & Graphics category. There are more than 50 alternatives to Shotwell for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and iPad. The best alternative is digiKam, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Shotwell are XnView MP (Free Personal), Adobe Lightroom (Paid), XnView (Free Personal) and qView (Free, Open Source).
