What is Quartz Studio?
Quartz Studio is a local-first Windows app that turns real desktop actions into professional step-by-step documentation.
It helps IT support teams, helpdesk agents, QA testers, operations teams, trainers and technical writers create support guides, QA reports, bug reproduction steps, incident evidence, runbooks, internal procedures, user manuals and training documents faster.
Instead of manually taking screenshots, pasting them into Word, annotating images one by one and formatting everything by hand, Quartz Studio brings the full documentation workflow into one focused desktop app: capture, organize, annotate, protect and export.
Users can capture steps manually or through consent-based click capture, choose full-screen or active-window capture, organize content into sections, add text-only steps, insert local images, use placeholders, annotate screenshots, blur sensitive areas, add magnifier zones, extract text with local Windows OCR and review the documentation before sharing.
Privacy is one of the main reasons to choose Quartz Studio. The app does not log keystrokes, does not upload screenshots to a Quartz Studio cloud and does not require a SaaS account. Screenshots, OCR text, documents and project files stay in the user’s local workspace.
Quartz Studio also includes local privacy review features to help identify captures that may need attention before export. This makes it especially useful for teams that document software, customer issues, internal tools, incidents or technical processes where screenshots may contain sensitive information.
Export formats include PDF, DOCX, HTML, HTML ZIP, PowerPoint, Markdown and editable Quartz .qzpkg packages. Quartz packages make it possible to save, reopen or transfer a complete documentation session with its steps, annotations and assets.
