StepForge records how-to guides for you. Start a capture and do the task normally: every click becomes a step with a screenshot of that moment, a marker on exactly where you clicked, and a title read from the button or menu you clicked ("Click Save").
Then polish the guide in a three-pane editor. Reorder and nest steps, add arrows, boxes, numbered badges and callouts, blur passwords or personal data, and add notes, code blocks and tables. Export to PDF, DOCX, PPTX, Markdown, HTML, Confluence, Wiki.js, animated GIF, JSON, or a folder of annotated images.
Everything stays on your computer. There's no account, no telemetry and no cloud requirement; text recognition runs on-device. Optional extras: Google Drive sync between your computers, and AI-written descriptions through a local Ollama model.
Useful for IT and help-desk how-tos, onboarding guides, bug reports, training handouts, and documentation that lives in Git.
