PSPad is useful for people who:
- work with various programming environments.
- like highlighted syntax in their source code.
- need a small tool with simple controls and the capabilities of a mighty code editor.
- are looking for a tool that handles plain text.
- want to save time - PSPad offers rich text formating functions.
- need a tool that offers user extension capabilities.
- want to save money and still have the functionality of professional products because PSPad is free for commercial and government purposes too.

Comments and Reviews
I love the simplicity and the feature to edit multiple docs side-by-side.
I like the program as a text editor, but without testing it extensively, the terminology quirk leads me to wonder how many other quirks there will be, and some crashes when you go beyond simple actions, make me think it's not robust enough to give 4 stars. PSPad can do things that both WordPad and Notepad++ can not. Unlike Wordpad, PSPad supports regex, tabs, and line numbering, and unlike NP++, PSPad does wysiwyg rich text. Drawbacks-Renaming,.. I would like to easily access file names from an explorer directory tree in Project Tool Panel, but is geared to Project making. (Later understanding: "Move As" works functionally as a Rename) There's Scripts/Macros available, but only on 32bit. Place the script file in script folder under language... java or vbs. In Settings, Program Settings, System Integration, and click Integrated scripting support (WSH). PSPad is capable of opening large html files. Their website could use an overhaul away from being cluttered and kitschy.
So what's the status on alleged adware mentioned here some 10 years ago or so?
By far the best text editor for windows
Switched to PSPad after experiencing too many problems with Notepad++
I like its small footprint and out-of-the-box Compare and Hex features.
I would give it 5 stars if a x64 version was available
It has one now, but if you want to use their extension scripts, it's only available on the 32 bit version.
I cannot confirm ad- or malware. Could this be due to downloads from other than the original Website? Anyone who bundles unwanted software while posting the text below, would discredit himself and go off on a tangent forever. This is what it says on http://www.pspad.com/en/download.php
I hereby declare, that PSPad installer, downloaded from PSPad page, doesn't contains any bundled software or malware. PSPad installer and PSPad.exe itself is digitaly signed with code signing certificate, issued by Comodo certification authority.
PS: If offered (as here with pspad) I always use portable software versions
Everything posted about PSPad is correct.
Awesome editor, compare with npp.
Free? Invasive adware could cost $$ to remove.
Maybe cheaper to purchase another product.
