I have been using openkm Community edition for a couple of months after extensive research compared to other softwares, i have to say it's a quite great application with lots of flexibility to manage your own version and creating automation scripts and the forums are really helpful and professionals are answering within quite a decent time. For sure it doesn't have all the features the PRO version has, but for the free open source version it is surely one of the best. I would recommend this !

Easy to install. We managed more than 200.000 documents with CE version. After an initial digitization project we imported 100.000 PDF documents (more than five million pages) with ist batch importer.
The lack of a bulk uploader (at least at the time of writing 10/24/2019) for the community edition make the community edition unusable. The community edition development seems to be lagging behind the commercial. The current version 6.3.8 was released April, 2019, which is based on 6.3.1 released in October, 2015. In contrast the commercial version is on v. 7.1.
What I saw was pretty slick, but that does not matter if I cannot bulk upload my document library. Time to look for an alternative.
Straightforward and easy to use, it doesn't try to be all things to everyone -- it does one thing and it does it well. Really really well!
I implemented OpenKM on our company and help us to track document authorization flow and we use it as a document management system for Quality control process.
