OpenFilz is an open-source document management system (DMS / ECM) built for organisations that want to keep control of their documents. It runs on your own servers, in your own cloud, or as a dedicated managed instance hosted in Europe.
The Community edition (AGPL-3.0) is free and includes:
- Virtual folders, versioning, metadata, favourites and recycle bin
- Full-text search with OCR (OpenSearch + Apache Tika)
- Collaborative Office editing (OnlyOffice) and viewers for PDF, Office files and images
- Electronic signature: multi-signer envelopes, templates and a PAdES seal
- Document workflows: approvals, tasks, due dates and reminders
- PDF tools: merge, split, rotate and reorganise pages
- AI document chat with your own model (Ollama, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) and a built-in MCP server for AI agents
- Tamper-proof mode (WORM), audit trail and SHA-256 checksums
- REST and GraphQL APIs, with SDKs for Java, Python, TypeScript and C#
The Enterprise edition adds secure internal and external sharing, comments and notifications, advanced access control, archival e-signatures (PDF/A-2b, trusted seal, timestamping), automated backups, migration connectors (SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Drive, SMB, CMIS), document scanning, outbound webhooks, customer-managed encryption keys and a Windows desktop sync client. Enterprise pricing is per user, billed annually, with a minimum annual contract.
