Comments about Streamlabs Desktop as a Alternative to OBS Studio
I could never get OBS Studio to work, and it slowed down my Windows PC terribly. Streamlabs is a fantastic alternative.2
Best streaming software ever. Activity feed, donations, stream drafts, and plenty of other features.
A bit hard to understand an interface, but it still very convinient.1
Adds a ton of features that aren't needed for the software, which in turn uses more resources. Even if you believe it to be more convenient, the payoff is simply not worth it. The average OBS user doesn't require many of these features, so this would make a poor choice as an alternative to OBS.0
Use "Lightstream" or original OBS instead of "Streamlabs".0
Steamlabs OBS is too "kitchen-sinky" with basic streaming functionality and does not offer or allow for the inclusion of advanced functionality for advanced users.1
If you spend too much time on email and chat, try sending instant video messages and screenshots with ScreenRec. You'll get your point across faster and save precious hours.
Comments about ScreenRec as a Alternative to OBS Studio
OBS is complex and works well for professionals. For people who want a simple and lightweight screen recorder, ScreenRec is a better option.1
I mainly use it to create short instructional videos for my students. ScreenRec is perfect for educationist who are working from home or employed at online educational institutes.1
ScreenRec is good for low end PCs. I personally found it much lighter than other free screen recording applications I was using earlier.0
Always preferred ScreenRec over all other free screen recorders because it is lightweight and records computer screen without watermark. I mainly use it for my Linux system.1
OBS is good but I like ScreenRec more because is more lightweight and gives HD PC screen recording without lags.4
Produce videos for the web using the industry-leading H.264 format. No tweaks or technospeak, just sparkling HD-quality video with compact file sizes...every single time. Two existing production presets (blog and web) and three new presets (YouTube, HD display, and Screencast.

Camtasia isn't for live broadcast.8
Bandicam is a lightweight screen recorder for Windows that can capture anything on your PC screen. Also, it makes it possible to record a certain area on a PC screen, or capture a game that uses the DirectX/OpenGL/Vulkan graphic technologies.
Comments about Bandicam as a Alternative to OBS Studio
It has a giant watermark shoved in the middle of the screen-1
It may not have much benefits compared to OBS. But it is a classic. Remember the days of videos with the Bandicam watermark at the top?2
It captures screen is a very easy way. No conflicts with GeForce or any other device.2
It is easy to use, but it is Shareware so you can only record up to 10 minutes and there is a big watermark1
XSplit Broadcaster is a desktop application designed to make your multimedia broadcasting and recording a lot easier and more fun to do. With its live output broadcasting feature, you can self-produce video broadcasts, conferences, distance learning courses, campus-wide...

Fantastic tool, but it's not available on linux and mac unlike obs which is available on all 3 major platforms2
Lots of live-streamers use both XSplit and OBS to achieve the same goal7
But it don't works on a mac osx! :(-4
VokoscreenNG is a user friendly screencaster for Linux and Windows. It is a continuation of the now discontinued Vokoscreen project that has been totally rewritten from scratch using Qt and GStreamer.
Comments about VokoscreenNG as a Alternative to OBS Studio
It's easier to use especially for some simple recordings you don't need to setup scenes like you do in OBS.2
It has very limited functionality (such as no audio recording) if you use wayland.1
Record your computer screen with audio input from Mic or Speakers. Also shows mouse clicks in addition to the regular cursor. Simple interface with ability to record in AVI or export as swf.Discontinued
The project seems to be no longer developed. Last version, 2.7 r316, released in May 2015, can be still downloaded from SourceForge.Warning
As described on VirusTotal comment (https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/1ddb733efb11769a05cc735d555e9a4df92c4cdf29fa47ea3864e57e67dcf884/analysis/1411383540/): if you download CamStudio from SourceForge.net, the VirusTotal results are 0/53. After installing this SF version, it immediately says that there is an update available. When the link is clicked, it takes you to camstudio.org, which has a zip file that, scanned with VirusTotal, gives you 15/53 result. So do NOT download and install the "update": it's a malware. Installer as of 09/22/2014.
Comments about CamStudio as a Alternative to OBS Studio
Fine for screen recording, but that's about it. It's not an alternative to full studio style video capturing programs like OBS Studio.0
