Nisus Writer is a powerful stable long text editor you can rely on even with scientific booklength manuscripts with many long footnotes and right-to-left languages like Hebrew, tables, headers, footers, images, table of contents, bibliography, index, and more. I work with it since more than thirty years (Nisus 3). It is very well crafted piece of software.

I've used NisusWriter Express since at least 2004. It's big enough for my word processing requirements, and seems to handle conversion from most formats quite happily. The keyboard shortcuts are completely customisable, and there are tons of features. There's also a Pro version of this word processer, for the heavy duty writers out there.
