NetWorx is a simple, yet versatile and powerful tool that helps you objectively evaluate your bandwidth consumption situation. You can use it to collect bandwidth usage data and measure the speed of your Internet or any other network connections. NetWorx can help you identify possible sources of network problems, ensure that you do not exceed the bandwidth limits specified by your ISP, or track down suspicious network activity characteristic of Trojan horses and hacker attacks.
The program allows you to monitor all your network connections or just a specific network connection, such as Wireless or Mobile Broadband. The software also features an array of highly customisable visual and sound alerts. You can set it up to alert you when the network connection is down or when some suspicious activity — such as unusually heavy data flow — occurs. It can also automatically disconnect all dial-up connections and shut the system down.
The incoming and outgoing traffic is represented on a line chart and logged into a file, so that you can always view statistics about your daily, weekly and monthly bandwidth usage and dial-up duration. The reports can be exported to a variety of formats, such as HTML, MS Word and Excel, for further analysis.
- Clear graphic and/or numeric display.
- Usage reports, exportable to a variety of file formats, including Excel, MS Word and HTML.
- Close supervision of uploads and downloads.
- Support of dial-up, ISDN, cable modems, ADSL, Ethernet cards, and more.
- Network information and testing tools with advanced netstat that displays applications using your Internet connection.
- Options to notify the user or automatically disconnect from the Internet when the network activity exceeds a certain level.
- Speed meter to accurately time downloads and report the average transfer rates.
- Dial-up session journal with detailed information.

For those out there wanting to get version 5.5.5 which is freeware. You can get it still at archive.org https://web.archive.org/web/20161208200349/https://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/
I liked how it worked some years ago and now I wanted to check some usage, downloaded it and saw how it changed to commercial. This is obviously their prerogative but given that there are free alternatives...
It used to be my favorite traffic monitor, too bad.
With NetWorx we perfectly can monitor our separated and summed up Traffic to the Internet-Provider with 2 computers in a home network:
Each off them is connected with the own ethernet network card (in a star structure) to a HSPDA internet modem Huawei B970 .
On each computer we monitor the traffic of the own ethernet card and exclude the traffic to the IP-Address of the ethernet network card of the other computer.
E.g. the own computer has IP-Address 192.168.1.27, the other computer has IP-address 192.168.1.133 and must be excluded and vice versa (to ignore traffic in internal LAN).
Networx sums up the internet traffic to the provider of both computers, and shows the traffic to the internet provider of each single computer and of both computers together, if Networks is installed on both computers.
Both Networx installations communicate perfectly automatically.
Version 5.5.5 works perfectly and is totally free forever, just download from archive and don't update beyond 5.5.5.
Unfortunately the deskband is not availble in Windows 7 64 bit. Time for Netspeedmonitor.
Used community to test their software, and promote it, then once it's polished, and known among many people, they abandoned the free version. This is a good example why nothing good is free of charge. If it's free, you are the product.
It is not free but extremely simple and comfortable in use.
Absolutely incredible network bandwidth monitor. Beautiful interface. Tons of options. Freeware perfection. Highly recommended.
