    Mousepad is a text editor, nothing more, and Bluefish is actually an editor for HTML, CSS and web programming languages like PHP, JavaScript and such. But Bluefish can be used as a plain text editor as well, in my opinion, as it is lightweight enough.

    Mousepad is designed to be a general-purpose, lightweight text editor. Leafpad follows the same principle. All other programs on the list have extra features, mostly for programming, which make them unsuitable replacements

    (Leafpad is sadly not Qt-based either, but that's unrelated)
