This is silly. I want a lightweight alternative to the Outlook Client so I don't have to choose between running that piece of crap or the piece of crap exchange site. Gmail an alternative mail server, and a great one, but it is not an alternative to the outlook client.
This needs subcategories.
Your lightweight alternative to the Outlook is Thunderbird
which also has portable version. Must have app!!!

Microsoft Outlook is a personal information manager which includes a to-do list, but I'm looking for just a to-do list.
Use Microsoft To Do. It's super simple, yet super useful and structured.

It's just great. Lots of thanks to Microsoft
Syncs with Microsoft's products well, and great interactions with other email providers
One of the best mail software that exist. A lot of functionalities that allows me to keep a good organization, and be focused on the subjects that matter the most.
