McAfee is just bundled bloatware that the end user shouldn't be saddled with. Even the creator of the company, John McAfee, doesn't use it because "it's annoying".
Mcafee is an antivirus, and it does actually work, but it still has a few flaws that outweigh the good. The antivirus works as advertised, and warns the user if the website, or file is malicious. However, the thing scans every file you download. Even if it poses no threat, like video files, photo files, and audio files. Another thing, if you have the Mcafee extension installed on your browser, then sometimes it'll tell you safe search is "turned off", and if you turn it back on, it'll set your default search engine to yahoo for whatever reason. The extension works perfectly fine on Bing, Google, Duckduckgo, and other search engines, but it insists you use yahoo. While scanning for viruses or malware, the antivirus nearly takes a third or half of your CPU, drastically slowing your PC down. While scanning, it's best to wait for the scan to finish before browsing whatever website you go on to. If you want a better antivirus, I probably wouldn't recommend McAfee.
