Although Malwarebytes premium finds some legitimate issues while browsing web that other products have not alerted, the real time protection significantly impacts performance despite exclusion rules. In other words, you absolutely do not want to run this product while gaming or developing (my code changes take twice as long to refresh with this product enabled so I have to turn it off every morning).
The free version must be installed, there is no portable version. The nag to "update" (not upgrade to PRO) is very irritating and in spite of settings I still get nagged. Ridiculous considering free version does not auto-scan, you have to pay for that What MBAM really mean is "upgrade" Goodbye MBAM, this is the end of a v.long relationship, I don't like being nagged
I always run Free versions of Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner , Diag and RogueKiller in that order and always have clean machines.
Oh Malwarebytes, what have you become? First they removed lifetime licences with subscriptions. After not using the program for awhile, I retried and wow, it's changed. And not for the better.
Premium trial is good and all, but nearly every site 3/10 sites I visit has something getting blocked. It seems MB has gone the scareware route and flags nearly anything as potentially malicious, and never removes it from their database even if it's a clear false positive.
Then there's the ads and nags. They seriously put popups in their program. The one good anti-malware program is now no better than Avast or Norton with their annoying notifications begging you to upgrade to paid sub. It's that practice that means I never will!
It's virus scanner is still good though, so I suggest using it for that, then turning the program off (did I mention this thing is now a resource hog?). Very sad to see such a good program go this way.
Great for scanning your system once month.
It is the only antivirus that really helped me when my pc got infested with Adware.
Malwarebytes is a scanner with a fresh approach to new threats. It's a tool glorified by computer scientists. It's not a good replacement for regular antivirus though, despite being marketed as one.
It has heuristic and other advanced detection optional. That means you'll have to deal with a bunch of false positives, though. The scanner takes about 30 seconds to update before every scan. It's irritating.
The free version has nagging pop-ups telling you to buy premium. The updates constantly reset settings, messing with your default antivirus. It slows down your PC more than the competition.
It's a nice tool, and I'm glad it was made, but I wouldn't replace my antivirus with it.
