It's free, but it operates like a premium application.

I thought iMovie was great... until I realized it could only do 16:9 aspect ratio. Um, dealbreaker.

iMovie is great for basic edits, however if your trying to make a full movie, iMovie doesn't have enough tools. iMovie lacks simple feature such as Picture in Picture Chroma Key. For a full movie, use Kdenlive, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or Sony Vegas.

iMovie is a strong video editing tool on mac, but for people who use windows system, they need to find a good alternative for imovie on windows, so aimersoft video editor is the best choice. they have free trail version, everybody can try it : http://www.aimersoft.com/video-editor.html

The stain of iMovie '08 has been washed away. iMovie '09 is extremely easy to use and performs well. The built in transitions are outstanding and publishing takes only a few clicks.
