I've used MS Money (and even Quicken back in my per-Windows days). If Microsoft Money weren't FREE [now] then this would be my next best alternative. It's not as convenient and "natural/intuitive" keystrokes as the commercial alternatives (which should be something easy to fix...but it may also be that I'm used to the others. It IS MUCH more friendly than GnuCash (IMO). I've also tried Mint, and Mint can probably do much the same as HomeBank, but I find it a small and well written standalone product even with it's keystroke quirks.
After my 40 years experience using numerous ICT systems, I prefer applications that only allow me to import one file at a time.

Please notice that this comment is OLD!! If all of this was true in 2012, then I think they've fixed everything. I also agree with @richardh9935's previous comment.

It's open-source software. I wouldn't expect anything to be fixed just because it's a decade later.

This is a simple and user-friendly tool with a neat interface. It took me no more than two minutes to learn how to use it. For basic bank account management, this is the best option I have found.
Easy to use, good enough looking UI. For simple personal finance tracking its more than enough.
Well, I've spent the better part of the day looking for a replacement for my beloved Microsoft Money. I've found it. A good part of the day was trying to use GNUCash. It's the second time I've looked it over and again found it so difficult to use, and I was a bookkeeper/accountant for 25+ years, I have a degree in computer programming, and I've been a web designer for the last 12. GNUCash was just too difficult to navigate and understand. So I gave up and installed HomeBank, with not much hope as the reviews and stars aren't that great. But, YAY! I have not gotten old and stupid, GNUCash is old and stupid. HomeBank is easy and has a nice-looking interface considering it's free. My eyes love the dark theme. I was going to give HomeBank 4 stars because they can't possibly be as good as MS Money...but I feel like I need to make up for some of the bad reviews.
The only thing that upset me during setup was that my bank (USAA) no longer lets me download in quicken format. It was a little pain in the butt to make the csv file work. It would have been nice to have a column mapper.
I saw that someone else reviewed that they couldn't use the assignment tool automatically, if it was true then, it's been fixed now. It's very easy to create an assignment and then use the tool to fix all the others.
I also found that I can split transactions! Yay!
I'm definitely going to be donating to them, once I have more experience and can donate a proper amount.
The only thing that would love that I don't think the software can do is connect with banks automatically.
Seems alright for very simple use but does not have any tools to handle investment accounts.
"A HTTPS version of homebank.free.fr is not available" — I consider unacceptable the absence of a secure connection certificate on a site that is directly related to my finances.
Still no HTTPS over a year later. This is definitely something that should be fixed.
