I built Oikos because I couldn't find a self-hosted finance tool that actually tracks a real multi-currency investment portfolio. Firefly III and Actual Budget are both great, but neither does much beyond cash accounts — no multi-currency holdings, no cost basis, no dividends, no tax treatment per instrument.Quicken does not really support multi-currency and historical FX rates for appropriate reporting.
Oikos adds: multi-currency stock/ETF/bond/crypto holdings with FIFO cost basis, dividend tracking, fund look-through (sector/asset composition for ETFs, not just the ticker), a cash flow forecast, and jurisdiction-specific tax-category rules (ships with Greek tax rules; adaptable to others). Also has an optional local-LLM (Ollama) summary/chat feature if you want it, entirely offline.
FastAPI + Postgres + React, AGPL-3.0 (a commercial license is available separately for anyone wanting to embed it or host it competitively — self-hosting for your own household is unaffected). Single-tenant by design — one instance per household, not a multi-tenant SaaS.
Install docs: INSTALL.md — Docker Compose, with an option to containerize Postgres/Ollama too if you don't want to run them on the host yourself. Screenshots in the README. Happy to answer questions.
