SoftEther is backward compatible with OpenVPN, open source, multiplatform, supports layer 2 bridging (such as for connecting other protocols like IPX), but as a MEDIATED VPN (requiring no special set-up behind most NAT routers which allow outgoing traffic) it is not very widely supported nor convenient to set up by non-techsavvy users.

Unable to make peer-to-peer connection which is main function of Hamachi.

Softether does not do nat traversal despite claiming it does. Even after setting everything up, my server still can't be reached by anyone outside my lan. Hamachi is made specifically for this and allows you to tunnel through your ISP nat that is blocking incoming connections.

P2PVPN creates a virtual private network for you which behaves like a physical network (e.g. your network at home). But instead of using an Ethernet cable to connect computers P2PVPN uses secure Internet connections.
