GSmartControl
Smartctl GUI that supports controlling hard drive Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting.
What is GSmartControl?
Hard disk drive health inspection tool
GSmartControl is a graphical user interface for smartctl (from smartmontools package), which is a tool for querying and controlling SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) data on modern hard disk drives. It allows you to inspect the drive's SMART data to determine its health, as well as run various tests on it.
GSmartControl can let you know in advance of failing that the drive has errors. Since a hard drive which has errors can be slower as well as fail at any time, it can help you justify spending time to back up your data or upgrade your hard drive.

Easy to use, open-source, safe, and fast. Does its job well.
Well, so far
CrystalDiskInfo does it weller. GSC doesn't show Host Writes for SSDs, doesn't show whatever Trim is supported and working, it doesn't have email notification in case of SMART issues and it have quite an overloaded UI with too much clicks, yet it wouldn't be difficult to make SMART table more pleasant for an eye and General tab more organized with important info and unimportant info regrouped separately.

powerful tool ! a lot of info and includ self test etc...
One of the simplest S.M.A.R.T. tools I've come across!
I'm new to Mac but an extreme Windows power user for over 20 years. I couldn't find a method to install GSmartControl without downloading the source and doing a make and install to compile it. Ridiculous in this day and age. What a shame because it looks like good software.
Some clever programmer will package this up and put it on the Mac App Store for a buck and make a nice coin.
Thanks, Protron! Forgive the inexperience/ignorance, but what to do once .deb file downloaded. I did so, but don't see anything that looks like the dozens (hundreds?) of programs I've downloaded on Mac and PC before.
Thanks!

Sorry ted939, I have no idea why I wrote that 2 years ago. But you seem to have a good point. Deleting my previous post so people don't get confused. Thanks for replying.
