Do the following experiment:

  • run HD Tune perf tests on your SSD, then do the same with some better known tools like crystal disk mark.
  • other benchmarks do most of the transfer through SSD cache. This guy runs the tests longer, and actually stresses the SSD. Results are more reliable.
  • difference is more obvious when you test several SSDs of diff generations.

Hightly recommended!

[HD Tune] has been split into two editions.
[HD Tune] is legacy v2.55 portable and installer (circa) 2014, both FREE.

[HD Tune PRO] is upgraded legacy (installer) to v5.75 (27-Aug-2019) PRO is more advanced than the legacy edition. PRO is only available as installer (no portable) PRO cost $34.95 usd (€24.95 ) ... no freebies.

One concern I have is the developers website is an insecure domain (http:) Downloads and "blurbs" for legacy [HD Tune] are available from softpedia ... https://www.softpedia.com/dyn-search.php?search_term=hd+tune

Compare [HD Tune] and [HD Tune PRO] ... 81% of PRO features are not available in legacy editions. SOURCE: PRO download page, scroll down to comparison panel ... http://www.hdtune.com/download.html

There is no forum, support by email only.

This is a great tool for measuring the performance of a Hard Drive. It will measure the Max and Avg Read Speed. It will also measure the drive temp and list the drive features. Also, the tool will allow you to run diagnostics on the drive to find errors. It has a nice user interface.
