This could be an alternative, and it has blog functionality out of the box. But it is a fork of WonderCMS, and I can’t see any advantages of Boid over WonderCMS, only the one that Boid does not need a plugin, if you want to blog.

I ran into several problems using SilverStripe in the past. Not a good choice if you prefer an easy to use and databaseless CMS like GetSimple CMS.
