Garden Reads provides a distraction-free reading environment with a garden aesthetic. It offers an AI feature that can answer questions about your book instantly, right on your device. The app supports EPUB, MOBI, PDF, TXT, and M4B files and allows you to switch between reading and listening. You can organize your library into custom shelves based on genre, series, language, or your preference.

The AI can assist with understanding characters, themes, plot points, and difficult passages. It is powered by Google's Gemma 4 running locally via LiteRT. You can turn on Deep Think for more analytical responses and toggle No Spoilers to prevent the AI from revealing the plot. The AI can respond in the language of your book and is optional.

Garden Reads offers thousands of free books and audiobooks from Project Gutenberg and LibriVox. The app has a unique interface with customization options and tools to aid learning. It also has a secure library feature for private books, which can be unlocked using biometric authentication.

You can back up your library and reading progress to Google Drive. With Garden Reads Pro, you can unlock the full AI assistant, remove ads, and access all future Pro features with a one-time purchase.
