It's free, it has a lot of features, but it is not as good as foobar2000. bug: memory leak.

It's not well maintained, so... Expect encoders and decoders to be a lot obsolete, specially if you use Windows and the common static libraries! Also, you can expect a lot of online service libraries to not work very well. See Strawberry instead.

Clementine is just a basic audio player, whereas foobar2000 is a very advanced player.

Like Foobar2000, you can customize the interface as well as you want, it supports easily flac files and metadata edition. DeadBeef is the alternative and open source furthermore.

Very similar to foobar2000 but lacks a lot of refinements and details. Some hotkeys binding simply doesn't work. Cannot import/export theme and settings.

Very customizable, with a default GTK interface! Looks and runs great! Exactly what I wanted from a music player :)

If you are looking for a Linux program to do the same thing foobar2000 does, this is probably your best bet. Has a gui very reminiscent of fb2k, a similar plugin system bundled with it, and support for almost all video game music formats out of the box.

Strawberry has many features that are similar to the ones I use most in foobar2000. I particularly like the queuing system as it allows me to maintain my playlists in the order I want while easily being able to cherry pick what I want to listen to right now. This is the best music player I have found that is available for Linux and it gets me closest to the experience I loved about using foobar2000 in Windows.
