What is FolioSort?

FolioSort is a native photo organizer for macOS and Windows that turns a chaotic pile of photos and videos into a clean, browsable folder archive — entirely on your own computer. No account, no upload, no subscription.

It reads the capture date, camera and GPS already inside every file, so thousands of photos land in the right folders in one run. You see the folder tree before anything moves, every transfer is checksum-verified, copy mode is the default, and one click undoes any batch.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Organize by date, camera, lens or GPS city — any hierarchy, with tokens like {YYYY}/{MM}/{Camera}/{City} • Fix a broken Google Takeout export — reads the sidecar .json files, writes the real date, GPS and people tags back into your photos, and catches Canon RAWs Google renamed to .jpg • Leave any cloud — guided importers for WhatsApp, Amazon Photos, OneDrive and iCloud, with one-click Synology and Immich destinations • Merge scattered libraries — folders, drives and exports into one de-duplicated library, keeping the best version of each photo • Clean up — exact AND visually similar duplicates, blurry shots and the screenshots polluting your photos. Every removal is undoable • Batch rename — 7 patterns plus regex find/replace with a live before/after preview • Sort an event — define time ranges ("Ceremony 14:00-15:30") and every camera's files land in the right folder • Search offline in plain language — type "the dog on the beach" and get the photo. Group every face into named people (exportable to XMP for Lightroom), find every photo of one person, search the text inside images (OCR) • Automate — chain organize, dedupe, rename and cleanup into one workflow, or watch a folder so new files sort themselves • 80+ formats including RAW (CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG) and cinema video (BRAW, R3D, ARRI)

YOUR PHOTOS STAY YOURS

Every scan, every AI model and every face runs on your machine — nothing uploaded, no account, works with the network off. The only network call is optional geocoding — GPS coordinates, never images.

PRICING — ONE-TIME, NO SUBSCRIPTION

• Free forever: 100 files per operation, unlimited Takeout import, unlimited scanning of duplicates, blurry shots and screenshots, plus an AI taster • Pro €19.99: unlimited files, custom templates, RAW and video formats, regex rename, GPS folders, event sorting, NAS imports • Elite €49.99: everything in Pro plus on-device AI search, face grouping, OCR and automation, on up to 3 Macs or PCs

HOW IT DIFFERS

Apple Photos and Lightroom manage a library database; FolioSort organizes the real files and folders on disk, so your archive outlives any app and lands cleanly on a NAS. Google Photos keeps your library on their servers behind a subscription; FolioSort gives you the same plain-language search and face grouping with nothing leaving your computer. ExifTool scripts move files — with no preview, no undo, no cleanup, no search.
